After months of renovations and improvements, Capaha Pond has been reopened to the public. According to wsiltv.com, the fence around the pond was recently brought down once the sidewalk around the pond was completed.
The pond was approved for renovation by voters in 2018. Improvements to the pond include draining and dredging, an improvement to the fishing habitat, better lighting and more.
While the pond is reopened, there is more work to be done according to wsiltv.com. Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Director Doug Gannon said other improvements to be made include installing benches, trashcans and accessible rails for fishing. The pond will also be restocked with different species of fish this June.
