Donald Trump works the drive-through at a Pennsylvania McDonald’s
Former President Donald Trump donned an apron on Sunday to work the drive-through at a McDonald’s in Feasterville, Pennsylvania.
NBC News reports the McDonald’s was closed for business and that the customers were pre-selected by the franchise while also being searched and wanded down before driving up to the window.
Trump's work at McDonald's is an apparent dig at his opponent, Vice President Kamala Harris, who repeatedly claimed to work at the fast food restaurant while she was a student.
“I’ve now worked for 15 minutes more than Kamala,” Trump said, according to USA Today.
In a statement, the McDonalds location owner, Derek Giacomantonio, remarked on Trump’s visit to his restaurant.
“It is a fundamental value of my organization that we proudly open our doors to everyone who visits the Feasterville community,” Giacomantonio said. “That’s why I accepted former President Trump’s request to observe the transformative working experience that 1 in 8 Americans have had: a job at McDonald’s.”
Vladimir Putin hosts a summit with world leaders amid war in Ukraine
Russian President Vladimir Putin hosted an annual BRICS summit in Kazan, Russia, welcoming leaders and representatives from several nations.
BRICS is an acronym standing for Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, according to the New York Times, while the group has expanded this year to include Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the United Arab Emirates.
According to NBC News, the group represents 41.1% of the world’s population and 37.3% of its Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
With this combined strength, BRICS presents itself as an alternative to Western-led groups such as the G7 summit dominated by the United States.
Putin particularly remarked on the relationship between Russia and China when speaking to Chinese President Xi Jinping.
“Russia-China cooperation in international affairs is one of the main stabilizing factors in the world.” Putin said. “We will continue to collaborate to establish a just world order.”
