After a year of hard campaigning, Southeast alum Kevin Windham has been elected to represent the 85th district in the Missouri House of Representatives. At 25, the Democrat is the youngest representative elected this year.

“It is satisfying knowing the people of the 85th District have confidence in me, and now we’re hoping to get some good work done,” Windham said.

Although the Republican Party still has the majority in the Missouri House of Representatives, Windham is confident that he and the other representatives from the St. Louis area will be able advance legislation and partnerships that will benefit their communities. Another 25-year-old Democrat from the St. Louis area, LaKeySha Bosley, who is slightly older than Windham, was also confirmed to the house this election to represent the 79th District.

Windham said criminal justice reform and access to education are his priorities for the upcoming session.
