The National Panhellenic Council (NPHC) helped spread the word about integrity in a unique way: through canvas and paint.

The NPHC held a Paint Party during common hour at the University Center on Wednesday to celebrate Southeast’s first ever Integrity Week.

Students were able to grab a free canvas and paint. Many painted pictures of sunsets, song lyrics, animals and other scenes, but some decided to paint what integrity means to them personally.

Freshman Rachel Kroeger painted a colorful face of a lion. When she thinks of integrity, she “always envisions a lion, since they are very fierce and always do the right thing without anyone judging them.”

Integrity Week is intended to encourage students, staff and faculty to use ethical and truthful practices for work during their time at Southeast, careers and beyond. This message has been spread and encouraged through a variety of events throughout the week, such as keynote speakers, workshops and the Paint Party.

“I think integrity means to do the right thing without other’s watching; to follow your personal morals regardless of who is looking,” said president of the Omicron Pi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Mikayla Richardson.

Other Integrity Week events for the rest of the week include a round table discussion on Sept. 27 at 7 p.m., and a series on faculty development, which is on Sept. 28 at noon. A list of all events can be found on the Southeast website at www.semo.edu/campuslife
