SGA approved a pollinator garden project located behind Rhodes Hall, proposed by the Environmental Science Association at the SGA meeting on Monday, March 29.
This project will consist of a mural painted by any students interested, a garden made of Missouri perennial plants and free outdoor study space for students with a solar power table for electronics.
Carla Ketcherside, vice president of the ESA, said John Kraemer, advisor of the association, helped plant the seed to start the project.
“A lot of our members use the Rhodes building, and we would pass by the garden and just see how sad it looked with this huge brick wall that was prime to be painted,” Ketcherside said. “We just wanted to liven up the space to make use of the little land we have.”
Facilities Management power washed the brick wall and mulched the garden. ESA plans to start this project as early as April 10.
Participation in the project is available to all Southeast students. For more information, contact the club via email at esa@semo.edu.
