On Monday Student Government Association met and discussed students' rights with faculty. Some things they want to see improved on or made a requirement are that:
1.) Teachers are expected to have and maintain a website, and an easily accessible online grade book for students.
2.) Teachers are required to be present during their office hours.
3.) Courses are required to abide by the syllabus.
4.) Technology must be used in classrooms.
5.) Student evaluations are used to better teaching techniques, and teachers should be held accountable for what students say in their student evaluations.
These things will be discussed in the next student--faculty senate meeting.
University Affairs Committee Chair Brad Beran met with Dining Services Advisory Committee and discussed the upcoming Subway on campus. He was told they are working on the plumbing and Chartwells has pictures on the Chartwells Facebook page of the construction. The university hopes to have Subway open in February.
SGA also voted on a funding request to have a bus pick up students in the St. Louis area to bring them to Cape Girardeau on Jan. 5 for the men's basketball game against Murray State. The game will be on ESPNU and they hope to encourage students to come to the game. The funding request did pass and arrangements are still being made at this time.
