Coach Andy Sawyers speaks to his players in a huddle at the end of their Jan. 23 practice at Capaha Field. This was the team’s first practice of 2018, however they have been practicing since the beginning of the fall semester. Heading into the 2018 season, Sawyers holds high expectations for his Redhawk squad throughout the tenure of the regular season. He expects them to contend in the NCAA tournament as they have many times in the past. Even though they were eliminated from last season’s tournament at the hands of the Murray State Racers, Sawyers said the team feels more confident and comfortable going forward as the coach takes the helm for a second season.
