The Redhawks baseball team beat Belmont University in their first of three games against the Bruins.
The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning with Belmont scoring the first run. The Bruins would go on to score three more runs before the end of the inning, bringing the score to 4-0 Belmont.
Redhawks catcher Andrew Keck opened the fifth inning with a home-run, giving Southeast it’s first run of the game, bringing the score to 4-1 Belmont before moving into the bottom of the fifth inning.
Redhawks outfielder Brett Graber hit to left field, with one player on base, helping Southeast to score two runs in the top of the sixth, bringing the score to 4-3 Belmont.
Redhawks outfielder Jevon Mason tied the game up on a sac-fly from infielder Tyler Wilber in the top of the eighth inning.
The game remained tied throughout the eighth and ninth innings, moving into extra innings with Redhawks infielder Ben Palmer scoring the game-winning home-run. The Bruins remained at four total runs throughout the bottom of the tenth, leading to a Redhawks win, 5-4.
The Redhawks start game two at 2 p.m. CT, on April 30 in Nashville at Belmont.
