SEMO celebrates 149 years

Southeast Missouri State University celebrates its 149 birthday today, March 23, 2022.

SEMO was founded in 1873 as a normal school, or a school that trains elementary and high school teachers. At its start, the school had only 5 faculty members and 57 students.

According to 2019 SEMO Institutional Research, Undergraduate enrollment was 8,629 and graduate enrollment was 1,222.
