Crisp Museum hosts “Night at the Museum” event

SEMO’s river campus hosted their “Night at the Museum” on Oct. 14 at Crisp Museum.

Dean of the Holland College of Arts and Media, Rhonda Weller-Stillson, said the event was a part of SEMO’s 150th anniversary celebration and brought students and alumni together.

“This is all part of the 150th celebration at the university and this is for the Holland College of Arts and Media, current students and alumni,” Weller-Stillon said. “It was just for anybody in the community that loves the arts.”

Musical theater major Abigail Manners said the event was great for bringing people who would not normally be at river campus.

“I love nights like tonight because it helps bring people who normally wouldn’t come to River Campus to see everything we have to offer,” Manners said.

With the event taking place on homecoming weekend, alumni of all ages were in attendance.

“We wanted to make sure we’re staying connected with them. So that’s big, some alums [are] all the way back from 1947,” said SEMO chair of music Nicholas Kenney.

As well as being an event for alumni and current students to connect, the event featured activities for people of all ages. These included a Halloween scavenger hunt, an escape room, an area designated for Legos, painting opportunities and game tables.

“There’s always something for everybody and that’s kind of the way we feel about our college in general,” Kenney said.
