Chi Alpha sponsored a “Field Games” event for students to gather and bond on Parker Field on Aug 23.

The Field Games hosted various games, including rock-paper-scissors, a three-legged race, a frozen T-shirt challenge, a hula-hoop contest and a rubber chicken toss.

The director of Chi Alpha, Kim Boley, organized the event to accommodate students with varying schedules.

“We wanted something that people can come and go as they please,” Boley said. “If they can only come for 30 minutes, it's very easy to come for just 30 minutes. If they're able to be here all night, it’s easy to be here all night.”

Boley emphasized that Chi Alpha aims to provide a strong support system for many students on campus.

“I think it's just a healthy. It's good to have good, strong, healthy student organizations that are consistent and always going to be there for the students and have stability and can be there throughout the generations, not just for a couple of years,” Boley said.

Staff member Ashton Lane said Chi Alphas wants to have fun and establish strong relationships on campus.

Participants were divided into teams based on colored bandanas given to them at the start of the games.

Sophomore marketing major Stephan Caruso attended the event to spend time with his friends.

His favorite event was the frozen t-shirt challenge, in which a team member attempted to unravel and put on a t-shirt that had been frozen in ice.

Beyond the fun and games, Chi Alpha often has a lasting impact on students’ lives.

Trevor Thompson, a junior English education major and Chi Alpha leader, said the organization has been transformative for him.

“It's like a family away from home. Whenever I first got introduced to Chi Alpha, they loved me like they’ve known me forever,” Thompson said.
