Crisp Museum hosted an I Love Us paint night on Feb.13, inviting friends and couples to explore their creativity while reflecting on their relationships.

Students and Cape Girardeau community members were provided with easels holding small canvases, paint and reference photos to create a painting with a unique twist.

Participants had the option to use reference photos for inspiration or select something meaningful to them.

Throughout the night, Flentge asked participants questions about their partner to encourage a deeper connection while they painted.

“They learn something new about the person they came with,” Flentge said. “Incorporating the questions is important to have a little social time.”

Sophomore psychology major Jayden Majors and sophomore double major in forensic chemistry and medical laboratory science Michelle DeClue attended as friends, marking their first paint night experience.

Freshman biology major Bandana Rai attended the event with freshman hospitality major Samjhana Poudel. This was the friend’s second paint night, the first being the Art for Adults: Winter Creek Painting event at Crisp Museum.

Rai shared that their first paint night was an enjoyable experience, which made them eager to return.

“The first time was really nice, it was really relaxing and plus we both love painting,” Rai said. “Trying new things is obviously fun.”

Flentge encouraged students and community members to take part in upcoming artistic events at Crisp Museum, emphasizing they offer an opportunity to connect with creativity in a fun and laid-back environment.

“Spending time being creative is a good time spent,” Flentge said.

The next paint night at Crisp Museum will be Clover Field on March 13.
