The convenience of walking in the University Center and being able to use the bathrooms on the first and second floor has been temporarily stalled due to renovations.

Tall black sheets of plastic cover what used to be the doors to the bathroom, and a sign out front reads "Sorry we're closed."

All of the bathrooms in the UC are being remodeled two floors at a time.

The renovations to the UC bathrooms will be done in two phases.

The first phase of construction began on the first and second floors of the UC on Oct. 8. According to Southeast's website, the restrooms will be finished in December.

"Phase two construction of floors three and four will begin mid-December after the completion of floors one and two," said Angela Meyer, the director of Facilities Management. "The third and fourth floors are expected to be completed in February."

The restrooms will be fully accessible to accommodate the increase in building occupancy load due to the dining addition in the UC that was built in 2012.

"While addressing these two items, we have the opportunity to upgrade the finishes as well," Meyer said.
