Southeast Missouri State University’s International Student Association is hosting their own presidential watch party in Dempster Hall. At the event, many of the students stated that they were unable to vote in this year’s presidential election because they do not have U.S. citizenship. Although the group was unable to participate in the voting process this year, they held strong opinions about immigration.

“It sucks not being able to vote because I’ve come to the U.S. to study. I feel like I should be a part of the system and see how things are running around here,” Sophomore Ruchika Sharma from India said.

Sharma said she believes she has followed the immigration issue throughout the campaign season and believes that Donald Trump isn’t the appropriate candidate to advocate for immigrants.
