SEMO track and field traveled to Birmingham, Al. to compete in the two-day 2022 OVC Indoor Championship.

After one day, Shea DeGraaf leads the Heptathlon with 3,013 points, Jon Bissel is third with 2,671 points and Issac Readnour is fourth with 2,580 points.

Lauryn James earned third place in the women’s long jump registering a jump of 5.69 meters (m), Ciara Potter finished fourth with a jump of 5.59m and Serena Williams finished fifth with a jump of 5.53m.

Dylan Clark earned first place and secured his new personal-best in weight throws with a throw of 19.89 m, Marshall Swadley secured second place with a career-best throw of 18.25m, and Clay Alewelt finished fifth with a throw of 17.01m.

Nicole Humphrey took first place in the women’s weight throw competition with a throw of 19.28, Megan Deimeke finished fourth with 17.81m and Makenize Williams ended with a throw of 15.56m.

Nick South took first place in the Pole Vault with a height of 4.90m.

Luke Hatfield-Jackson took second place in the long jump with a score of 7.50m, and Brock Wood and Issac Readnour finished seventh and eighth with jumps of 6.82m.

Byron Sowerby, Markeith Crawford, Terrico Garrett and Noah Little took third place in the men’s distance medley relay (DMR) with a time of 10:13.62. Hannah Eastman, Brianna Payton, Claire Morrill and Taylor Fox finished in third place for the women’s DMR with a time of 12:07.00.

Overall, the Redhawks earned 9 medals during this Wednesday’s 2022 OVC Indoor Track and Field Championship. The team will continue competing tomorrow, Thursday, Feb. 24.
