A preliminary exit poll from Edison Research in Phoenix, Arizona found that voters ranked democracy and economy as the top issues on the ballot today.

Abortion was considered the most important issue by 14% of voters, while 11% cited immigration as the most important. The poll also revealed that 73% of voters felt the democracy as it is today is at risk, while the other 25% felt secure in the future of the country’s democracy.

These figures represent just a piece of the viewpoints of millions of people voting today. The same exit polls showed that women made up 53% of the electorate, which has not changed much since the last election.

The same exit polls showed that Kamala Harris has gained more support in key battleground states such as Michigan, Wisconsin, North Carolina and Georgia.

In contrast, Donald Trump has garnered stronger backing in Nevada and Pennsylvania, two critical swing states.

Harris, who is 60 years old, is poised to make history as the first female president and the first Black woman to hold the office. Meanwhile, Trump, who is 78, would become the first president in more than a century to secure non-consecutive terms.

In addition to the presidential race, control of both chambers of Congress is up for grabs in this election.

Republicans hold an advantage in the U.S. Senate, but Democrats are defending seats in states that lean Republican, making it a tough battle for control. The House of Representatives remains too close to call, with both parties vying for a majority.

As voters cast their ballots, the outcome of these races could significantly shape the political landscape for years to come.
