On Friday, March 24, charges were filed against Mitchell J. Dirnberger for a sexual encounter with a young female student.
Dirnberger was charged on March 28 with three offenses, including promoting a sexual performance to a child (a Class C felony), endangering the welfare of a child in the first degree (a Class D felony) and sexual misconduct in the second degree (a Class C misdemeanor).
According to the Southeast Missourian, he allegedly had sexual conversations with a 16-year-old female student over Snapchat, inviting her to come over to his house.
He worked as a shop teacher specializing in industrial technology, sponsor for the robotics club and head coach of eSports at Chaffee Junior and Senior High School. Dirnberger has been fired from Chaffee Jr./Sr. High School with a court date undecided.
