Southeast Missouri State University's Recreational Services will host the department's first ever Punt, Pass and Kick event.
Punt, Pass and Kick is a competition for Southeast students to put their football skills to the test. Students will have two chances at each station to punt, kick and pass a football as far as they can.
Jason Lipe, an associate director of Recreational Services, is in charge of the event. Director of Recreational Services Mike Buck and graduate assistant of Intramural Sports and Sport Clubs Robert Shanahan as assisting with organization.
"We won't have the registration online, but if students want to pre-register, they can do that at Recreation Center-North," Buck said.
Registering for Pass and Kick is simple and quick. All that students are required to provide is their name, contact information and their Southeast ID number to prove that they are a student.
Registration for Punt Pass and Kick and any other special events organized by Recreational Services such as Inflatable Fun and a Zombie Run are completely free for Southeast students. The information on those event will be released at a later date.
The finalists for Punt Pass and Kick will be decided on Oct. 8 starting at 5 p.m. The competition will be held at the upper intramural fields in between the intramural flag football games. The sessions for competition will be from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and 9 p.m. to 10 p.m.
"We will add up the total yards and then 3 top men and the top 3 women will compete at Houck Stadium," Shanahan said.
After the competition on Oct. 8, the three finalists for both men and women will compete at an upcoming Southeast home football game for a prize and bragging rights as the halftime show. Neither the prize nor the date of the game have been determined.
"We really just encourage students to show up the upper intramural fields and compete," Buck said.
Punt, Pass and Kick could become an annual event at Southeast.
"I wouldn't see why not," Buck said.

The Sprint Rally will begin at 5:30 p.m. and Field Day will start at 7:30 p.m.. Also on homecoming weekend is Inflatable Fun at Parker Field, which kicks off at 4 p.m. and ends at 8 p.m.
