The Redhawks defeated Tennessee State on Saturday by a score of 42-0 at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, TN.
Senior running back Geno Hess led the offense with 136 rush yards and three touchdowns while also breaking the SEMO record for career rushing yards. The 28-year-old record was previously held by Kelvin “Earthquake” Anderson who graduated in 1994 at 3,392 yards. Sophomore quarterback Paxton DeLaurant threw for 138 yards and a touchdown in the victory.
On defense, the Redhawks were led by sophomore linebacker Bryce Norman with 12 solo tackles and shut out an Ohio Valley Conference opponent for the first time in 25 years.
The win puts SEMO at an overall record of 7-2 and an OVC record of 3-0 with just two regular-season games left. Southeast is back in action at 2 p.m. on Nov. 12 in Charleston, IL when the Redhawks will take on Eastern Illinois University.
