SEMO Redhawks narrowly lose to Little Rock Trojans in a thrilling game. Despite leading at halftime, the Redhawks fell 67-63. Freshman Zoe Best shined with 20 points. Next up: Tennessee Tech.

The SEMO women’s basketball team were defeated by the Little Rock Trojans on Tuesday Jan. 14 at the Show Me Center.

The game started with the Redhawks in control, outscoring, out-rebounding, and having less fouls than the Trojans, even extending to an eight point lead. The Trojans however recovered, and closed the score once again.

Throughout the first half the game remained competitive, however four three pointers from freshman guard Zoe Best, and junior guard Da'Kariya Jackson kept the Trojans behind, helping the Redhawks make it into the second half with a 38-31 lead.

During the first half the Redhawks dominated Little Rock in the paint, having 20 of their points come from under the net, and controlled the defensive side of the ball with four more steals than Little rock.

In the second half the Trojans mounted a comeback taking advantage of both missed shots and fouls, going on an eight point run to take the lead and extend the score to 51-44.

In the fourth quarter the Redhawks attempted to make a comeback of their own closing the gap to 58-56, however through a string of fouls and turnovers, the Trojans were able to regain their lead, making the score 66-59.

The game finished with the Trojans winning by a score of 67-63 sending their conference record to 6-1 and second in the OVC.

Freshman guard Zoe Best led the team in scoring, finishing the game with 20 points, with four three-pointers made.

The Redhawks next game is against Tennessee Tech on Thursday, Jan. 15 at 5:30 p.m. in Cookeville, TN.
