Last semester nearly 500 people answered our online readership survey about how to improve the Arrow, and many voiced the need to have more advice-type stories or columns. After taking this into consideration we have decided to change this page and hire a team of students for our first-ever A-Team.
The A-Team will consist of six members who will work across multiple platforms for the Arrow. As editor, I will also be a member of the team. My job will be to oversee the production by the team and help solve any problems.
We are looking for people from of any major and any age to join and, as a member of the first team, you would be able to help mold it.
As a member you would be responsible for posting to a blog on our website where you can voice your opinion or thoughts on a variety of topics.
You will also have the opportunity to give advice or opinions on anything from dating, school, nationwide issues or talk around campus in the print edition of the Arrow. Each week the format can vary. Team members could write a "he said, she said" response to a question, members that feel strongly about an issue or have an experience relating to it can give their side or the entire team could write one message if they all are in agreeance.
Another aspect of this is interacting with students via social media, such as Facebook and Twitter, and creating videos for our website. The idea behind these videos would be to allow students on campus to express their opinion and interact with members of the A-Team.
The ultimate goal for the A-Team is to have a group of students that become recognizable by the rest of the students at Southeast and whose opinions and thoughts are looked forward to every week and prompt discussion.
The perfect person would not only share their ideas, but welcome others to express their own.
The application for the A-Team can be found at southeastArrow.com/forms/ateam. Deadline for the first team is 11:59 p.m. Feb. 13.
As members come and go we will continue to hire members for the team, so continue to apply after the deadline if you still remain interested. If we ever have a member leave for any reason we will look at the rest of the applications and decide on a replacement.
